POTD Day 43 Bob Johnson is a creative genius....

My friend and colleague, Bob, is quietly and amazingly creative. He has written and directed I don't know how many school plays and he is back at it this year. His process blows my mind actually...he will come up with an inspiration (ex: the Kalakala Ferry, the state test, the Red Balloon and several others....) and "lives with" that theme in his head for months. As it is marinating, he finds music, costumes, sets, whatever.... for the play and THEN he begins writing.

The theme this time is Jackson Pollack and the play is called "True Colors". The cast has been selected and they have been practicing afterschool. Today, Bob needed some help with the art project that the cast was going to work on. I assumed that the art was for the set and some will be but, the rest will be sold at his dinner theater night as a fundraiser for the play. We all watched a youtube video of an artist doing the project that we were going to do and then we went to it. It was way too hard to choose just ONE photo from the whole thing..the kids were creative and had a blast and the art is cool looking...

Cool shot of the paint....

A conversed out pre adolescent "throwing" the paint as instructed.....

3 former students came back to help and were sitting on the stage and it was a photo opp.....
I couldn't just get the crossed legs shot-you gotta see them-they were so much help today and we love having them come back to their elementary school!!!
One of my math kids snagged my daughter and let her help paint her piece... who is helping who there anyway? :)

Mr. Johnson helping some kids....
 Wow....
Wow again....

and the grand finale of "Wows".....
