Since I woke up at 5:15 wide eyed and bushy tailed this morning (first day of summer break... ) I have been going through all the pictures I took yesterday and getting sentimental all over again. That assembly gets me everytime, especially years when I am teaching Sixth Grade.
I took pics of the whole class but also just the ones moving on.. they were a wonderful group of kids. They are fun and smart and hilarious and helpful, and, and, and.... I love the pride they take on this last day-they all dress up, share a few traditions (B made candy leis for everyone since it is a Hawaiian tradition to wear leis for graduation type events) and savor the last moments of elementary school when they are just as excited to move on to where the lunches are better, they get lockers and they have more freedom. I love them and know that they will keep in touch-we elementary school teachers always wonder about what is up in their lives.. Here are the beautiful new "Sevies", fresh faced with minds filled with all they need to be successful middle schoolers...Doesn't their energy just jump out of the photos?
I didn't know you taught sixth graders. That's what Grace just finished! Enjoy your summer break!
ReplyDeleteI had a split this year-fifth and sixth... yes, I have sent a couple of those girls to Grace's blog awhile ago since I think that they would be really great at it and love it like Grace. They were very impressed... neither are photographers but both have lots to say, good writers and one is an artist also. Thanks for the "next button" trick-that is AMAZING!!!
