Wow.. I checked my email this morning from my phone while I was still in bed and someone had posted their well wishes for the people whose house burned this morning in our neighborhood. It turns out that, right up the street, indeed, the house burned and the people (who thankfully got out in time-2 parents and a baby) lost everything. Everything! What a day for them..where do you begin to rebuild?
Our neighborhood, which I obviously rave about a lot, has come together and had a meeting to decide how to help the family and began collecting items the family will be needing (including offers of staying at peoples' homes or a rental property that they have). Tomorrow there will be a bank account for us to contribute to but, already, money has been collected! I cannot imagine the devastation or how people recover from this kind of thing. I took this shot when the lighting was kind of cool-the sky was darkish and then there was a glow... you can see the burned house up on the hill...
How sad. It's great that communities can try to come together and help. We are going through something like that where our community has suffered a lot of crime, we are trying to figure out what to do as a community, and it's nice to know there are people our there who want to and can help.
